One of our goals at Informing Democracy for creating the 50 State Post-Vote Guide was to provide a comprehensive overview of the timeline and deadlines surrounding post-vote processes. We’ve heard from our partners that calendars would be the most effective tool for visualizing this data.
We’re excited to announce these calendars are now live!!
Building on the positive feedback from our Virginia Post-Vote Notion Calendar, we’ve created this series of calendars in Notion and made them available to anyone with the link.
Calendars by State
Calendars for all 50 states with date ranges and deadlines for post-vote processes are now available. For each state, we have included some of the key processes that happen once ballots are cast, including pre-canvassing, ballot scanning, local and state canvassing, local and state certification, and audit processes (where applicable).
Check out the state-by-state post-vote calendars here.
Calendars by Process Step
If you’re interested in comparing deadlines across a particular post-vote process step, we’ve also created calendars that allow you to see all the state deadlines for a given step:
Pre-Canvassing: This includes when pre-canvassing of vote-by-mail ballots can start and when these ballots begin to be scanned or fed into tabulators.
Canvass + Certification Dates: Both local and statewide start dates or deadlines as applicable.
Audits: The timeline info for different types of audits depending on existing state law.
See the post-vote process step calendars here.
These calendars were created using our latest round of research. We’ll do our best to monitor changes across the states and update calendars as needed. If you have feedback on the calendars or see a date you have a question about, don’t hesitate to contact info@informingdemocracy.org.
We hope these calendars are a well-used tool as we head into this election year. We encourage you to bookmark them and share them with your colleagues.
Thanks and more soon,
The Informing Democracy Team
